This is the story of baby Russell’s labor and birth. He was welcomed into the world by loving parents Robin and Tyler on 9/26/12. This was my first (of hopefully many) births to photograph. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
3:14 The first call from Robin, “I think I’m in labor”. This was it. The moment I had been waiting for was here. My first birth photography “guinea pig” was in labor. I checked my equipment and set my camera up to charge. I sat down to pass some time not expecting another call for a few hours.
4:32 Another call and update on her contractions…anywhere from 4-8 minutes. Even my husband said after I got off the phone, “she sounds too chipper to be in active labor. I bet you’ll be at the birth center around 2 in the morning”. NOPE!
4:45 I decided I would go out and buy some scrubs, something I had been meaning to do for a couple of weeks now. I arrived, picked out a pair, and just as we were checking out…
5:15 …the final call “Robin has you in her birth plan to do photos and is here in active labor”. I am so glad I brought my camera with me just in case.
5:30 I arrived at the birth center just in time to capture these photos.
6:01 Baby Russell arrives 9 pounds 9 ounces 21 and 1/2 inches long
Robin and Tyler I cannot thank you enough for letting me share your precious sons first moments of life. Congratulations!
